Volunteers

We have heightened need for volunteers working in professions like medicine, translation, engineering, construction, and the culinary arts.

In Ukraine, Ukranian speakers are highly appreciated, but to volunteer, it´s only necessary to have basic working knowledge of English or Spanish.

In Turkey, Turkish and Arabic speakers are highly appreciated, but to volunteer, it´s only necessary to have basic working knowledge of English or Spanish.

In Lybia Arabic speakers are highly appreciated, but to volunteer, it´s only necessary to have basic working knowledge of English or Spanish.

Volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of one week to serve and are additionally asked to cover a daily cost for accomodation.

There is inherent risk involved in volunteering in crisis and war zones, so volunteers should discuss the current conditions and assess their own capacity to assume risk.

Sophie

“I was here during March 2023 in the 6.5 earthquake… it was a very very small taste of what they’d been through in the 7.8 earthquake. And you could see the palpable trauma. It was very defining for me. I’ve never felt palpable fear before, but that was like you could feel the fear of the people. So I think just being able to stand with them and be present and just being able to give a hug, cry with them, just to be. I think that is so so special.”

Lyuda

My name is Lyuda and I am a refugee from Donbas.

I have been living in Lviv for a year now. One day, as I was walking down the street, I noticed a huge tent and decided to take a closer look. To my surprise, I found a lot of people sitting at tables and eating.

I discovered that some foreigners were feeding them. Being an English teacher in the past, I approached them and we started talking. They invited me to take part in their volunteer work, which I found to be incredibly useful.

For the past 7 months, I have been helping people who, like me, suffered from the war. It brings me great joy to be a part of this team and to contribute to the community. Working with them makes me feel younger and more energetic. I am grateful for this opportunity to make a difference and I hope to continue doing this work for as long as I can.

Roksolana

My name is Roksolana, and I’m from Lviv, Ukraine. I have been volunteering since the beginning of 2023, and when I joined Remar’s team, I immediately realized how friendly and warm the atmosphere is. Team is really trying to put all theirs effort to provide not only material but mental support as well. I’m really happy to be a small part of this powerful volunteers team that is truly passionate about world changes for better.
Ukraine has been suffering for more that a year during a war, and millions of people have lost together not only homes – they lost faith in true humanity. This is why, in my opinion Remar SOS is trying to help ukrainians and show them what kindness and love are capable for.

Ivan

I was invited to volunteer with “Remar SOS” for a few times. But when I got there and saw the people who are served by volunteers, I realized that life has two sides: one side shows a beautiful world with people striving for success, driving nice cars, and facing work-related problems. On the other side, I met people living day by day in poverty, facing temptations and loneliness. The portion of food I served them was their only meal for the day. This experience made me realize that being a servant in “Remar SOS” is more important to me than having people served to me. I believe in the importance of showing love to all people, and I understand that we, as individuals, can represent that love. I found an answer to the question of how to demonstrate this love. I want to express my gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the ministry of “Remar” because it provides numerous opportunities to serve by feeding the hungry and clothing the poor.Every Thursday, meetings are held in the tent where people can gather to hear uplifting message. It is heartening to witness the positive changes in their lives. I feel fortunate to be part of those gatherings where we can make a difference. Thank you!

Daniella

When I arrived to the base I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do, but my mind and my heart was ready to help and serve others because I love doing that. I think this time here has been one of the most amazing experience I ever had in my life. I learned, I grew, I laughed a lot, I made new friends, I understood in a deeper way heart of a servant, and I have the chance to do what I love… cooking and serving. Acts of service is my love language and been here I realize how much I love serving others. If they give me the opportunity of doing this all over again I would do it a million times more.

It’s been an honor to work with Remar SOS here in Turkey. I’ve received far more during my time here than what I ever gave. The hospitality and kindness of the locals, working with other volunteers  from all across the world, and getting to see and experience how everything is working even in such a hopeless time for so many.

Nika

I have arrived in Ukraine in August 2022 eager to help and be a part of what was happening there. I was able to see the reality of the people who were really affected by the war. Your problems and needs become so small compared to what people suffered and suffer in this country. And you really start to value even more what you have, life, family and home. It is a privilege to be a volunteer, to be able to see another reality and serve people in need.

Hey, my name is Andrew, I’m from Ukraine, Rivne. I’m a volunteer Paramedic in the Ukrainian Army. Helping with REMAR since the beginning of building tents in my native city of Rivne. Here, during the routine work of our tent, I see in a special way how people’s hearts can change, how previously complete strangers become best friends and fully dedicated to helping others. I’m really grateful for REMAR and the opportunity to serve people who are in need.

Juan de la Rosa Aluendiz

Hello, I’m Juan de la Rosa Aluendiz, a 52-year-old from Huelva, Spain, and a dedicated member of Remar SOS. I’ve been living in Ukraine for the past 11 months as a missionary, and it has been an incredible experience so far.

Every day, I wake up knowing that I have a purpose: to help those affected by the war. I spend my days in a tent in the city of Rivne, serving food and providing companionship to refugees. And you know what? It brings me so much joy to be able to make a difference in their lives.

I do it all out of love for my fellow human beings. I truly believe that this is what I was meant to do, and I feel so grateful to have this opportunity to serve.

Being here isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely worth it. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces and knowing that I’m helping in some small way makes it all worthwhile. I feel blessed to be able to do this work, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
